Cameras in the $1000 Price Range
I recommend two cameras in the $1000 price range. One Canon and one Nikon. I will only recommend these two brands in this price range. The reason is that the ability to learn with others in the same brand, accessibility to used lenses and resale.
Recommendation: Canon 80D with an 18-55mm lens kit.
Reason: This is a great camera. Canon has released a newer version so the price on this camera is exceptional and a great building block for your journey in photography. Excellent image quality and usability.
Price Range: Expect to pay $999 for this kit (Mar 2020)
Recommendation: Nikon D5600 with 18-55mm lens
Reason: Nikon’s most recent version of the 5000 series cameras. Excellent image quality and usability. The lens included in this kit an 18-55 which is included with most kits. Its a limited use lens, however, it is a good building block. For this price its a steal.
Price Range: Expect to pay $900ish for both the lens and body (March 2020)
